Tapping Into 2010!

In this guest blog post, Sue Tiritilli shares two unique ways to get ready for the New Year using EFT Tapping.

What are the thoughts that would make you unhappy in 2010?

Kind of an odd question, but this a question posed by Byron Katie and it really grabbed my interest.  She suggests that if we don’t work on these things for the year ahead, they will certainly work on us!

What a great twist on the statistically unsuccessful New Years Resolutions we tend to make each year!   It’s a common notion that coming up with a list of what we don’t want is easier than figuring out what we do want. Once written down on paper it will be a great tool for tapping!

Here is one other way to tap into the new year.

I first learned this from my teacher, EFT Master Lindsay Kenny, it is called the Ultimate Truth Statement and I love using this technique. Once you list your goals, take one at a time and examine it this way;  Let’s say for example that your goal is to go to the gym at least three times each week.  Write the goal out as if you already have it, or are already doing it.  Like this:

I go to the gym at least three times each week.

Now rate this statement from 0 – 10 based on how ‘true’ it is for you.   ‘Zero’ being not true at all, and ‘ten’ being very true.

Write down what comes to mind as you say this statement out loud, what your ‘little voice’ is telling you.  These will become your tapping statements.

For example, my little voice says things like: 

‘You’re too old to do this’

‘You aren’t going to be able to keep up a schedule like this’

‘You don’t even like going to the gym’ …etc., etc., etc.

Using the EFT tapping points,  tap on these statements and any other thoughts that come up until your rating gets higher – that is, until your goal statement becomes true for you.   You want to get the number up to a 10 so keep checking in to see if your number has changed from your original assessment.

This accomplishes a couple of things:

1) You get all those internal ‘arguments’ out in the open and deal with them.

2) Getting to a 10 puts your conscious and subconscious in alignment to achieve your goal, this is VERY IMPORTANT.  Without this congruency, goals are much more difficult to achieve.
